WEIGHT LOSS EXPERIMENT

While there are many factors which control a person's weight, none seems as powerful as thyroid function. A person with hyperthyroidism can eat 4000 or more calories a day, not exercise, and lose weight. A person with hypothyroidism can eat 1000 calories a day, exercise for two hours a day, and gain weight. No other factor has that effect on body weight.

We know that many nutrients affect thyroid function. We have seen that taking deficient and excessive amounts of various vitamins and minerals can increase or decrease thyroid hormone production. With this knowledge, we should be able to develop a list of nutrients which people with excessive body weight from poor thyroid function should be able to use to decrease body weight.
