HAIR LOSS

From: Ccherblady@aol.com

I lost quite a bit of hair for about 6 months or longer, but being a
hair stylist for 35 years and an avid naturalist, I went for the vitamins and they have helped a great deal... I take Biotin... 1000 to 1200 mg a day!! My hair is growing much better now and I find I have to cut the bangs about every two weeks to keep them out of my eyes... Good Luck

I notice a difference in my hair loss when I am too much in either
direction...too hyper or too hypo. I also have a difference in my nails.
Does anyone else notice a difference in your nails? Strangely enough when new hair growth is appearing, the nails seem weak and splitting. When the hair is falling out, the nails are strong, hard and beautiful. I thought they worked together. Anyone else with this problem?

My nails were very brittle, wouldn't grow and my hair fell out in wads.
Once my thyroid levels stablized and added protein (meat) to my diet my hair has grown back and my nails grow hard and fast! Took several years though!

I had VERY thick hair. A year before I was diagnosed I noticed each
time I washed my hair it was coming out in wads. It became very thin, I hated it and wasn't used to thin hair so cut it shorter. Once I stablized
fallout ceased and it took a while before it grew back. It has been in the last 6-8 months that my hairdresser has noticed the thickness has returned (more gray hair too!). Luckily I had lots of hair to begin with so it appeared normal but I noticed the difference and so did a few friends. My nails are stronger and grow faster now. I'm only taking 1/2 pill/day of PTU and may be going into remission. Next doc apptment is this Friday! I also took the vitamins in Dr. Arems book about thyroids. I didn't know about this website at the time. My hair isn't as thick as it was 4 years ago but then again I'm mid40's so this can be the difference too! However, I still have lots of hair.

Vitamins and stabilizing the thyroid helped!! Wish I would have known about this website four years ago. Biotin is also supposed to be great for hair growth...hope this helps, Mona
