My first palpitation happened on Dec 2002. After studying for finals I drank alot of caffeine and took caffeine pills to stay awake late in the night. When it happened it scared the heck out of me. I went to the emergency and the beats went back to normal. The other major palpitation occured this year on March 2003. I went to the emergency room again. Everything went back to normal and I had a holster monitor on me the next day and wore it for 24 hours. Everything is fine at that point. But my problem is that I only get 5 hours sleep due to studying and still drink diet sodas but not as much as I used to. I have to stop drinking sodas. The palpitations only happen a few times a week just as I'm trying to go to sleep. My heart beats very quickly for 30seconds to 1 minute and a half. I sweat and I feel a pulsating pressure on what I believe is the artery on my leg. When it goes away I can go to sleep. I feel scared because I had one this evening and can't go to sleep. I am going to go see my regular doctor this morning and tell him about this. I'm 39 years old and am single and healthy and scared. I want to live a long and healthy life with no problems. I want to get married and have a family one day and I want to take care of this problem. I am a man but I can admit that I'm afraid. I pray to God to have my heart back to the way it was before these palpitations occured. I will stop drinking diet sodas with caffeine cold turkey. I would appreciate a response. Thanks Mel
