Dear Katherine, I'm so sad and mad for you!! It has to be very frustrating for you to do all that you are doing with the exercise, supplements, etc. and then to see no results! I think it is especially hard for those who have never had a weight problem and especially in your case being a fitness instructor. My heart goes out to you with genuine understanding and compassion. It's so hard to be in your body but feel so out of sorts with it and then to look in the mirror and not recognize yourself! And having to keep on the happy face for others can be very difficult. As I wrote to you in an earlier post I too have been going through a very similar experience as yours. My boyfriend is tall and skinny too, by the way! He's very understanding but that doesn't change the way I feel. I met him when I was very thin and fit. I sometimes get so down feeling that I will never be able to change this situation and my heart clutches in fear at the thought of getting even heavier. I'm not trying to make this about me - I just want you to know that I do understand what you are going through. As for the practical side of things - I think that you should stick with the supplements (not that you weren't going to) because as our bodies are so out of balance it may take six months at least to really start seeing results with the weight loss. I have recently read info regarding the liver and it's effect on weight loss (also the liver is responsible for converting T4 to T3 so it's especially important for people with thyroid issues.) I am on Armour and I feel much better than I ever did on Synthroid. Some people do lose weight if they switch from Synthroid to Armour because of the T3 (I didn't). Cytomel is synthetic T3 and that it an option too. I definitely believe you need to have the T3. There have been studies to support that hypos who supplement with T3 either natural or synthetic have less depression, a better sense of well-being and many do lose weight. Anyway - now I've gone on long enough! I don't want to say something trite like "hang in there!" or "keep your chin up". I know you will keep trying until you succeed - I just hope and pray for you that your success is at hand! Good luck Katherine! Sincerely, Lisa
